In a study published January 30, 2018, the 2018 Global Digital suite of reports from We Are Social  and Hootsuite reveals that over half of the world’s population is now online. The report features all the countries included in the study with reports for the growth of each one.


For the third year in a row, the Philippines still holds the number one spot for social media use in the whole world. On average, Filipinos spent an average of 3 hours and 57 minutes in social media every in 2017, putting the Philippines ahead of any other country, with Brazil taking second place with an average of 3 hours and 39 minutes.



The annual digital growth for the Philippines shows an increase of 12% (or 7 million Filipinos) in internet users since January 2017, 12% increase in active social media users, and 15% increase (or 8 million Filipinos) in active mobile social users.








The average daily time spent on the internet is a whopping 9 hours and 29 minutes, average daily time spent on social media is 3 hours and 57 minutes, average daily TV viewing time (broadcast, streaming, and video on demand) is 3 hours and 37 minutes, and the average daily time spent listening / streaming music is 2 hours and 8 minutes.
